SPOKANE, Wash. – The schedule now gets serious for the Whitworth women's lacrosse team. The Pirates open Northwest Conference play this weekend against George Fox on Saturday and Pacific (Ore.) on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.

The Pirates: Whitworth (3-3) won both matches during its Spring Break trip to Chicago, allowing the Pirates to even their record heading into league play.
Whitworth rolled to a 22-6 win at Illinois Tech on March 22. The Bucs controlled play on both ends of the field, outshooting the hosts 47-8 and forcing 20 turnovers while committing only eight. Sierra Witte had four goals and an assist, while Campbell Vincent also scored four times. Peyton Green added three goals and two assists. Kenzie Hemman led the team with seven draw controls, eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sage Fosnock (two goals allowed) and Kayla Jones (four goals allowed) split time minding the goal.
The next day the Pirates handed North Central College only its second loss of the season, outscoring the Cardinals 4-0 in the fourth quarter to win 12-8. Whitworth had a 35-18 shot advantage and forced 27 NCC turnovers. Vincent scored four more goals, while Witte had two goals and an assist. Megan Whitman also scored twice and led the team with five draw controls and three caused turnovers. Once again Fosnock and Jones each played 30 minutes guarding the net and each allowed four goals.
The Bucs average 15.17 goals per game to lead the Northwest Conference. They are allowing 10.83 goals against per game. Whitworth leads the league in shots per match (33.83), 24.5 of which are on-target.
The Opponents: Whitworth and George Fox met in a non-conference game in Newberg, Oregon in the 2025 season opener. The Bruins prevailed 18-14 and have won all 13 games between the two schools. GFU is 4-4 overall and looking to break a three-game skid that included Spring Break losses in California to Occidental (19-15) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (23-8). The Bruins average 13.75 goals and allow 13.43 goals per game. First-year Merrick Gibson leads the team in goals (21), while senior Morgan Marfield leads the team in total points (31) with 16 goals and 15 assists. Freshman Myah Pack has played every minute in goal for GFU and has a .363 save percentage.
Pacific is 2-6 this season after splitting a pair of non-conference matches in Tacoma against NWC opponents Pacific Lutheran (won, 13-7) and Puget Sound (lost, 12-7). Pacific plays Linfield on Wednesday and at Whitman on Saturday before taking on the Pirates on Sunday. The Boxers have averaged 6.75 goals per game while giving up 15.13 goals per contest. Sophomore Jasmyn Zimmerman has 17 goals and two assists this spring, while junior Sarah Quade has 15 goals and one assist. Freshman Jocelyn Taylor has played every minute in goal for Pacific and has a .297 save percentage. Whitworth swept Pacific in 2024, winning 20-4 in Oregon and 17-5 in Spokane.
Record Day: The 26 goals against Eastern Oregon on March 1st broke the previous school mark of 22 goals against Whitman set on March 6, 2022. The 14 assists vs. EOU topped the previous record of 11 assists vs. Pacific (Ore.) on April 20 of last season.
No Sophomore Slump: Campbell Vincent, who led the Pirates in goals scored in 2024 (56), is having another banner year in 2025. She has already tied her own school record with six goals in the season-opening match at George Fox, the third time in her career she has reached that mark. She set a new team record with five assists vs. Eastern Oregon, surpassing the previous record of four shared by Abby Hahn and Rebecca Irwin. With 25 goals and six assists through only six matches, Vincent leads the NWC in goals per game (4.17) and is third in points per game (5.17).
The Coach: Noelle Brouillard is in her seventh season as head coach at Whitworth, the only seasons the Pirates have been a varsity program. Since the restart following COVID, Whitworth has shown dramatic improvement each year. The Bucs went 0-10 in 2021. They won five times in 2022, went 6-12 in 2023 and broke through with a 12-6 record in 2024, including an 8-4 mark in the NWC.
Brouillard came to Whitworth from the University of Scranton, where she was the top women's lacrosse assistant coach for two seasons. Scranton had a 22-13 record over the two years Brouillard served as assistant coach. The Royals advanced to the Landmark Conference tournament championship game in 2017 and finished with an 11-6 record. She played for four seasons at Allegheny College (Pa.), where she was a two-time team captain in 2012 and 2013.
Looking ahead: The Pirates will play at Whitman (Wednesday, April 9) and at Linfield (Sunday, April 13) in a pair of NWC matches next week.
