Whitworth University selected Noelle Brouillard to become the school's first women’s lacrosse coach in May of 2017 and she is heading into her seventh season building the Pirates' program in 2024-25.
The 2024 season was a breakthrough at Whitworth. The Pirates posted records for victories (12) and NWC wins (8) while earning a third place finish in the conference standings, Whitworth's best. Brouillard guided the Pirates into the first-ever Northwest Conference tournament in 2023 with a fourth place finish in the league standings and at-the-time high-water marks for wins (6). That result followed the spring of 2022 when the program posted five victories overall.
Whitworth earned its first win on April 12, 2019 and finished 1-14 that first season. The Pirates showed dramatic improvement in 2020, including a 19-5 win over Whitman, before the season was canceled after three matches because of Covid-19. The 2021 season was limited to conference matches only.
Brouillard came to Whitworth from the University of Scranton, where she was the top women’s lacrosse assistant coach for two seasons. Scranton had a 22-13 record over the two years Brouillard served as assistant coach. The Royals advanced to the Landmark Conference tournament championship game in 2017 and finished with an 11-6 record.
Brouillard brought extensive experience at the NCAA Division III level. In addition to her coaching experience at Scranton, she played for four seasons at Allegheny College, where she was a two-time team captain in 2012 and 2013. She was the team’s defensive MVP as a senior in 2013 and was a two-time member of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association academic honor roll.
Brouillard also has experience coaching women’s lacrosse in England. She coached at the University of York in 2013-14 and was also the Director of Lacrosse for Ampleforth College in York at the same time, where was responsible for coaching and organizing the U18A, U18B and U15 teams while organizing team activities. She then served as the High Performance Lacrosse Director at the University of Exeter in 2014-15. While at the University of Exeter, Brouillard obtained her master’s degree in international management.
Brouillard is a graduate of the 2022 NCAA Women Coaches Academy Class #51 and 2023 NCAA Women's Coaches Academy 2.0 class #6. The NCAA Women Coaches Academy, hosted in partnership between WeCOACH and the NCAA, is a multi-day growth and development program available to NCAA coaches of all experience levels, designed for women coaches who are ready to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success.
Whitworth announced the addition of women’s lacrosse as the school’s newest varsity sport in March of 2017.
