Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Trinity Frank scored five goals, but it was not enough as visiting Whitworth fell 14-10 at Pacific University in the Northwest Conference women's lacrosse season finale for both schools on Sunday afternoon.
Frank's goal total ties the Pirates' school record for most in a match, set last season. It wasn't quite enough to prevent Whitworth from falling to 0-10 on the season. Pacific finished the year 2-10 thanks to a pair of season-ending victories over the Bucs.
After falling behind 3-1 in the first 12 minutes of the match, Whitworth scored three in a row to take a 4-3 lead. Frank's second goal of the match capped the run. Frank scored again with 8:23 to play in the first half to give the Pirates a 5-4 lead. It was their last lead of the match as Pacific closed the opening period on a 4-0 run. Amber Lancia scored two of the goals for the Boxers.
Carcie Chappell opened the second half with a goal to get Whitworth back within two. Abby Hahn scored consecutive goals less than a minute apart, the second with 22:04 to play, to pull the Pirates back within 10-9. Pacific was able to put the match away with its second 4-0 run of the contest. Julian Dagan scored the first and last goals of the run. Frank's final goal to tie the team record came with less than a minute to play in the contest.
Frank's total tied a record set last season by Sidney Triepke during a 19-6 win at Whitman College.
Tori Schauer started in goal for the Pirates and made two saves against ten shots in the first half. Madison Gotthardt played the second 30 minutes and stopped one of seven shots she faced.
Sydney Bierenkoven led Pacific for the second straight match with five goals, while Lancia had four. Madyson Ivey stopped six of the 16 shots she faced in goal.
