FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Visiting Whitworth University led at halftime, but Pacific University rallied in the second half to secure a 13-9 victory in a Northwest Conference women's lacrosse match on Saturday afternoon.

The Boxers improved to 1-10 overall, 1-8 in the NWC, while the Pirates dropped to 0-9, 0-9.  The two teams will complete the season with another match against one another on Sunday.

Whitworth jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first eight minutes of the match, thanks to goals by Kylee Walker, Carcie Chappell and Madison Perry.  Pacific scored four straight goals to go up 5-3 after a score by Katrina Boyd.  The Pirates finished the first half by scoring four of the last five goals of the period.  Walker scored twice, while Perry and Abby Hahn tallied goals in a run that gave Whitworth a 7-6 lead at the break.

Pacific opened the second half with three straight goals to take a 9-7 lead.  The Pirates got back within one twice, first from Hahn with 20 minutes to play that cut the margin to 9-8.  Then Hahn scored again with 16:11 to play that cut the deficit to 10-9.  Pacific shut out Whitworth the rest of the way and scored three more times to put the game out of reach.

Sydney Bierenkoven led the Boxers with five goals and two assists.  Madyson Ivey made seven saves in goal for Pacific.

Hahn had three goals and an assist, while Walker tallied three goals for the Pirates.  Perry finished with two goals.  Madison Gotthardt made four saves in goal for the Bucs.
