SPOKANE, Wash. – Pacific University shut out Whitworth 9-0 in a non-conference men's tennis match on Sunday at the Scotford Tennis Center.
The visiting Boxers improved to 10-1 with the weekend sweep of the Pirates (4-12).
The closest doubles match of the day came at #1 where Pacific's Koby Murata and Rayden Murata edged Whitworth's Kincaid Norris and Nathan Tjelle by a single service break, 8-5.
Norris also played a close singles match, falling 6-4, 7-5 to Quentin Gonzales at #1 singles. Ethan Warring was the only Pirate to push his singles match past two sets, falling 6-7 (5), 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) at #5 singles.
Whitworth will complete its season next weekend with a pair of matches at Willamette University.
