FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific University shut out Whitworth 9-0 in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Boxers improved to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in the NWC while the Pirates dropped to 4-11, 3-4. The teams will play a non-conference match on Sunday.
Pacific Swept the doubles. Ethan Violette and Nathan Tjelle were within one service break before falling 8-5 at #1 doubles.
Violette fell 6-3, 6-2 to Quentin Gonzales at #1 singles in the closest singles contest of the day. Brenden Archer lost 6-1, 6-3 to Joey Balleweg at #6 singles.
