McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Visiting Whitworth University completed a weekend sweep of Linfield College in men's tennis with a 5-4 victory on Sunday in a modified format.

The Pirates improved to 2-6 while the Wildcats fell to 0-3.

The doubles matches were single-set, six-game decisions and Linfield won two of three to take an early 2-1 lead.  Cameron Brewer and Jonathan Hutley earned Whitworth's lone doubles point with a 6-1 win at #3.

The singles contests were contested as eight-game pro-sets.  Whitworth took a 3-2 lead when Kincaid Norris won 8-1 at #2 and Hutley won 8-3 at #3.  The Wildcats tied the match with a win at #1.

Nathan Tjelle earned an 8-2 victory at #4 singles and Ethan Warring followed with an 8-7 (7-4) win at #5 singles that clinched the team victory.

Whitworth will hit the road again for matches at Lewis & Clark on March 20-21.
