SPOKANE, Wash.– The Whitworth men's tennis team lost to league-leading Whitman 9-0 on Saturday to conclude the 2019 season. The Pirates finish their season 6-12 overall, and 3-5 in NWC with Whitman being the only undefeated team in conference (9-11, 9-0).
Kincaid Norris and Sean Singco had the closest doubles score of the day for the Bucs, losing 8-7 in the #1 spot. Cameron Brewer and Ben Bethards dropped their match 8-5 at #2 doubles to Derek Simonsen and Matthew Biggi.
In the singles matches, Bethards dropped the first set in a 7-5 battle against Jacob Strobo, and lost the second 6-2 at #1. Norris had the next closest score against Tom Chang, losing 7-5, 6-3 in the #4 position.
Senior Nick Hughes lost 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles in his final match as a Pirate.
