SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth men's tennis fell 6-3 at home to Lewis & Clark on Saturday. The Pioneers (5-2 overall, 3-0 NWC) remain undefeated in Northwest Conference play, while the Bucs fell to 2-6, 0-3.
Ben Bethards and Cameron Brewer had the lone doubles win for Whitworth at the #3 position, pulling out an 8-7 victory over Riley Vickers and Ryan Hayes. The Pirates lost the #1 and #2 doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores.
Sean Singco earned a victory for the Bucs at #2 singles competition with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Brendan Adams. Nick Hughes was the only other Pirate to finish with a win, defeating Ryan Hayes 7-6, 6-3 at #6 singles.
Bethards and Cameron Brewer both lost a close decision in three sets at #4 and #5 singles, respectively. The score in the third set was 7-5 in both matches.
The Bucs take on George Fox in the Scotford Tennis Center Sunday at 11:00.
