NEWBERG, Ore. – Whitworth University dropped its second match during a weekend trip to Oregon, falling 8-1 at George Fox University on Sunday afternoon.

The visiting Pirates fell to 1-9 overall and 1-3 in the NWC while the Bruins improved to 5-1, 3-0.

Whitworth earned its only point when Nick Hughes and Ian Fisher pulled out a 9-8 (6) win at #3 doubles over Justin Barton and Tristen Lerma.

Fisher also played the Pirates' closest singles match, falling 6-2, 7-5 at #2 singles to William Leach.

Whitworth returns home to host Willamette University next Saturday.
