WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Whitworth could not quite keep up with 15th-ranked Whitman College in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Tuesday evening, falling 9-0 to the league-leading Missionaries.
The Pirates fell to 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the NWC. Whitman improved to 14-5, 8-0.
The Missionaries took all three doubles matches, two by 8-0 scores. Drew Adams and Caleb Hughes fell 8-3 to Robert Carter and Petar Jivkov at #3 doubles.
Shane Sandlin was the only Pirate player to go past two sets in his singles match. He lost 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) to Jivkov at #3 singles. Drew Brigham dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Colton Malesovas at the top of the ladder.
Whitworth returns home to host Pacific (Ore.) and Willamette in a pair of NWC matches this weekend.
