Men's Tennis Falls to ACU 6-3

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Whitworth battled hard, but could not come up with its third men's tennis win of the season in a 6-3 loss to NAIA-member Arizona Christian on Wednesday afternoon at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

The Pirates dropped to 2-6 this season while the Firestorm improved to 5-9.

ACU pulled out two of the three doubles matches.  Drew Adams and Chris Engelmann won 8-3 at #2 doubles for the Pirates' point.  Both the first and third doubles matches went to 8-6 before the Firestorm pulled them out.

Drew Brigham got a win at #1 singles for Whitworth, defeating Santiago Galeffi 6-3, 6-1.  Caleb Hughes earned the Pirates' other point with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Andrew Gross at #5 singles.

Engelmann went to a third set against David Castano at #3 singles before Engelmann was forced to retire.

Whitworth will conclude its trip to Southern California with a match at San Diego Christian on Thursday.
