PARKLAND, Wash. – Whitworth rolled to its second consecutive men's tennis win with a 9-0 shutout at Pacific Lutheran on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates improved to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the NWC. The Lutes dropped to 2-6, 2-5.
The closest match of the day came at #2 doubles where Blake Miller and Matt Goebel pulled out a 9-8 win over Sam Angel and Chris Erkkila. Chris Engelmann and Drew Adams earned an 8-5 win at #3, while Drew Brigham and Shane Sandlin rolled to an 8-3 win at #1.
There was only one singles match that didn't go in straight sets. At #5 singles Goebel beat Jeremy March 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
Brigham pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 win over Sam Stadter at #1 singles.
Whitworth is now off until March 24th when they open their spring break trip with a match against College of the Desert in Palm Springs, California.
