SPOKANE, Wash. – Both of Whitworth's swimming teams, along with Molly Konop, Nathanael Van Liew and Henry Brewster, were recognized for academic excellence during the 2025-26 season by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Whitworth's women's and men's programs each were designated as Scholar All-America teams for the spring semester by the CSCAA.  To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.  The women's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.68, while the Pirate men posted a GPA of 3.33.

Not only outstanding in the classroom, but both Pirate teams are also coming off dominating performances at the 2026 Northwest Conference Championship meet in Boise where each won a team title by significant margins.

In addition, Konop and Van Liew earned first team recognition on the CSCAA Scholar All-America team while Henry Brewster claimed status as a second team honoree.

To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the semester and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.  Second team selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard.

Konop qualified to race at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis in March.  At that meet she finished 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn Second Team All-America status in both races.  She set a new school record in the 200 distance at the NCAA Championships with a time of 2:18.68.  She was also part of the Pirates' record-setting 200-yard medley relay in February.

Van Liew qualified to compete in Indianapolis as well.  He raced in the preliminary heats of the 50 and 100-yard freestyles and the 100-yard breaststroke.  He earned a Northwest Conference title in the 50 free and was part of record-setting relays in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.

Brewster just missed qualifying for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for the second straight season in the 200-yard butterfly.  He won both the 100 and 200-yard butterflies at the NWC Championships and was part of both record-setting medley relays.
