Molly Konop pulls away at NWC Championships Day 2 100 Breaststroke 2026

Konop scores in women's 100-yard breaststroke

INDIANAPOLIS – Whitworth freshman Molly Konop finished 15th in the women's 100-yard breaststroke on Friday evening, becoming an honorable mention All-American in her first-ever NCAA Division III swimming and diving championship meet.

Konop's finish earns her second team All-America status and scored two points for the Pirates in the women's standings.

Konop qualified 15th into the consolation finals with her time of 1:03.64 in the morning's preliminaries, an improvement of half a second over her entry mark of 1:04.17.  She came back and went 1:04.20 in the evening swim to finish seventh in her heat and 15th overall.

Also from Whitworth, Megan Bonikowsky and Nathanael Van Liew competed in the 100 breaststroke preliminaries on Friday morning.  Bonikowsky finished 37th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:05.93.  Van Liew posted a time of 56.57 to finish 31st in the prelims of the men's 100 breaststroke.

All three Pirates will compete in their final event of the meet on Saturday.  Konop and Bonikowsky will race in the women's 200-yard breaststroke while Van Liew competes in the men's 100-yard freestyle.
