SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth men's tennis will close the 2026 regular season with senior weekend matches against Puget Sound on Saturday and Willamette on Sunday. First Serve is set for 11:00 am both days.

The Pirates: The Bucs (10-6 overall, 9-3 NWC) split a pair of Northwest Conference matches last week but secured a spot in the NWC tournament.
Whitworth earned a 5-2 to win over George Fox on Friday to sweep the season series with the Bruins. GFU swept doubles before the Bucs rebounded with five singles wins, highlighted by Matt Froslan's three-set match-clinching win on the No. 5 court.
On Saturday, the Pirates fell 4-3 in a tight battle with Lewis & Clark. The River Otters secured the doubles point after winning two matches against three new Whitworth pairings. Henry Preacher, Connor Judson, and Froslan each secured singles wins for the Bucs, but a three-set L&C win in the No. 6 position clinched the River Otter win.
Senior Day: Pirate seniors Henry Preacher and Colby Cinqmars will be recognized for their accomplishments and impact on Pirate men's tennis prior to first serve on Sunday. Preacher is 10-5 in singles this season and has 31 career singles wins. Cinqmars has appeared in one match this season and has 15 career singles wins.
The Opponents: Puget Sound heads into the weekend with a 1-15 overall record and 1-11 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Loggers earned their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Willamette. Jason Rowe holds the top doubles spot for PS and Jackson Stumpf joins him on the No. 1 doubles court. Whitworth beat the Loggers 5-2 on March 7 in Tacoma.
Willamette (2-12, 1-10 NWC) carries a three-match losing streak into this weekend after falling to Puget Sound on Saturday. AJ Avansino is the top Bearcat singles player and Jake Bronson holds the No. 2 spot. Avansino and Hudson Snyder combine for the No. 1 doubles duo. The Pirates beat Willamette 6-1 in their first meeting on March 8 in Salem.
The NWC Race: Whitman has secured the 2026 NWC title and hosting right of the NWC Tournament with a 12-0 record heading into the final weekend of action. Whitworth (9-3) holds second with Lewis & Clark (8-4) a match behind. Goerge Fox (6-6) and Pacific (6-6) are battling for the fourth and final tournament bid.
The Coach: Daniel Redfern enters his third season as head coach of the Whitworth men's tennis program in 2025-26. He holds a 21-32 overall record and an 18-15 Northwest Conference mark. Redfern was a two-year standout player for the Pirates, earning first team All-Northwest Conference honors in 2011 and 2012 after transferring to Whitworth from Skagit Valley College.
Looking ahead: The Whitworth men will compete in the 2026 Northwest Conference men's tennis tournament on April 18-19 in Walla Walla for the first time since 2016.
