The Pirates: Whitworth (0-1) opened the season with a 14-9 loss at Whitman last Friday. A rough third quarter was the difference as the Blues outscored the Pirates 6-1 in that period. Whitman finished with an 18-7 advantage in draw controls, allowing the Blues to control possession and outshoot the Bucs 34-17. Campbell Vincent led Whitworth in scoring with four goals, while Sierra Witte had two goals and an assist and Megan Whitman also scored a pair of goals. Charlotte Norton made her first career start in goal and stopped eight shots.
The Opponents: George Fox comes into the weekend 1-1. The Bruins lost at home to Redlands 13-7 in their most recent game last Saturday. Lana Davis, a senior midfielder, has nine goals and five assists this season, while fellow senior Ava Bluhm has five goals and four assists. A pair of players have split time in goal for George Fox. Whitworth has not beaten George Fox in 14 tries since beginning varsity lacrosse in 2019.
Willamette heads into the weekend 1-0, but has not played a match since defeating Eastern Oregon 20-2 at home back on February 7th. Senior attacker Claire Kisielnicki scored six goals in that match, while first-year Priya Mistry had five goals and three assists. A pair of Bearcats split time in goal. Willamette is 13-0 against Whitworth since the teams started varsity lacrosse in 2019.
Scoring Machine: Campbell Vincent, a junior attacker, is already the most prolific scorer in Whitworth lacrosse history. Vincent holds single game records for goals (8), assists (5) and points (10). She carries single season records for goals (65 in 2025) and points (83 in 2025). And through only two full years, she is the Pirates' career leader in goals (124), points (149), shots (206) and shots on-goal (171).
The Coach: Noelle Brouillard is in her eighth season as head coach at Whitworth, the only seasons the Pirates have been a varsity program. Since the restart following COVID, Whitworth has shown dramatic improvement each year. The Bucs went 0-10 in 2021. They won five times in 2022, went 6-12 in 2023 and broke through with a 12-6 record in 2024, including an 8-4 mark in the NWC. Last season the Pirates finished 7-7 overall and 4-4 in the NWC, tied for fourth place.
Brouillard came to Whitworth from the University of Scranton, where she was the top women's lacrosse assistant coach for two seasons. Scranton had a 22-13 record over the two years Brouillard served as assistant coach. The Royals advanced to the Landmark Conference tournament championship game in 2017 and finished with an 11-6 record. She played for four seasons at Allegheny College (Pa.), where she was a two-time team captain in 2012 and 2013.
Looking ahead: Next weekend the Pirates will play Carthage (Wis.) in a neutral site game at Whitman on Friday before traveling to play at Eastern Oregon on Saturday.
