SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University football will play a full ten-game schedule once again in 2025, including five home contests and five on the road.

The Pirates are coming off a 10-2 season in 2024 which included a second straight trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Whitworth will play three non-conference contests, two of which will be in the Whitworth Pine Bowl.  The Bucs will open the season on Sept. 6 against Gustavus Adolphus at home.  The Pirates defeated the Gusties 40-7 in the 2024 season opener for both teams in the first-ever meeting between the schools.  Whitworth travels to La Grande, Oregon to play Eastern Oregon University on Sept. 13.  The Pirates lead the all-time series vs. the Mountaineers 18-16-1 and have won the last three.  The final non-conference game is a renewal of the West Coast engagement with the University of Redlands.  The Pirates and Bulldogs have not played since 2011 and Redlands holds a 6-3 edge in the series.

Whitworth's Northwest Conference schedule includes four road games and three at home.  The Pirates play the road contests at Pacific (Ore.) on Oct. 4, Linfield on Oct. 18, Lewis & Clark on Oct. 25 and Willamette on Nov. 8.    Whitworth is 27-5-1 vs. Pacific, including last season's 39-32 win in Forrest Grove.  Linfield leads the all-time series against the Pirates 41-7-2, including last year's 34-7 victory in Spokane.  Whitworth is 41-13 against Lewis & Clark after last season's 48-9 win in the Pine Bowl.  The Pirates defeated Willamette 48-0 at home last fall to pull within 40-34 in the series.

Whitworth will host George Fox on Sept. 11 as part of Homecoming and Hall of Fame weekend celebrations.  Three weeks later the Pirates will host Pacific Lutheran on November 1 and then conclude the regular season at home against Puget Sound on November 15.  Last season the Pirates defeated George Fox 31-0 in the road to take a 7-3 lead in the series.  The Bucs defeated Pacific Lutheran 34-23 in Puyallup in the conference opener to pull within 52-29 in the series.  Whitworth beat Puget Sound 42-24 in Tacoma to extend its series lead to 50-26-1.
