Bryce Missey has returned to the Whitworth University football staff as its offensive coordinator, according to head coach Rod Sandberg.

Missey, who coached at NCAA Division I University of Wyoming in 2025, replaces Jimmy Cerf who as offensive coordinator.  Cerf moved to California where he is the head coach of a high school program.

"Whitworth Football is really excited to have back a familiar face leading our offense," Sandberg said.  "Bryce is a great football mind and helped our offense set numerous records when he was with us for the 2024 season."

Missey served as OC and quarterbacks coach for the Pirates during the 2024 season when Whitworth ranked among the top-20 schools in NCAA Division III in passing yards, passing touchdowns, total offense and yards per play.  He had been hired as quarterbacks coach but was promoted to offensive coordinator before the first game.  The Pirates finished 10-2 that season and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs as an at-large attendee.

Missey served as a quarterbacks coach and an offensive analyst at Wyoming for one season.  The Cowboys finished 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Mountain West Conference.

"We're blessed and thankful to return home and be a part of Whitworth University and the Spokane community," Missey said. "My wife and I could not be more excited to be here. Whitworth is a special place, and I'm looking forward to getting to work with an outstanding group of coaches and players."

Prior to joining Whitworth the first time, Missey was a running backs coach at NAIA Bether University in Tennessee where the team finished 11-2 and reached the NAIA quarterfinals.

A 2021 graduate of Pacific Lutheran, Missey served as an assistant coach for the Lutes during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
