FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Whitworth University opened the 2025-26 swimming dual meet season with a dominating Northwest Conference sweep at Pacific University on Friday night.
The Pirates won all 22 events, 11 each by the men and women. Whitworth's men won 177-14 while the women prevailed 164-30.
Seven different men won individual events against the Boxers, led by Ben Butler and Henry Brewster. Butler won both the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:14.70) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.72). Brewster won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.30 and the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.22). He also swam the butterfly leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:36.90).
Parker Dangleis posted the most impressive winning time of the night, sprinting to a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.04. He was also on the medley relay and led off the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:16.64).
The Pirate women had eight swimmers win the nine individual events. Paige Dangleis was the only double winner for the Whitworth women, taking first in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.64) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.16). Dangleis was also part of the meet finale 400 free relay that won in 3:45.05.
Molly Konop ran away with the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.99 and also swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 400 medley relay (4:14.81). Hailey Freeman won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:20.97, while Kallie Badrey touched first in the 1,000 free (10:52.59).
Whitworth will take on Lewis & Clark College in Portland on Saturday afternoon to complete the season-opening trip to Oregon.
