Men's tennis closes season versus LC St.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth men's tennis will host Lewis-Clark State on Saturday for its 2024 season finale.

The Pirates: Whitworth (5-12, 3-4 NWC) closed Northwest Conference play last weekend winning one of its three matches. The Pirates fell to Pacific 5-4 and George Fox 7-2 before finishing on a high note with a 7-2 win at Willamette.

The Pirates have missed the NWC tournament for seven straight seasons now, their last trip was in 2016, and have finished 3-4 in conference play for two consecutive years. Saturday will mark their second match against LC State this season, they lost the first in early February. Henry Preacher leads Whitworth with eight wins in singles this season, Preacher and Nathan Tjelle have been the top doubles duo as well with a record of 6-7.

The Opponent: Lewis-Clark State (11-11) have won two straight coming into Saturday's match, breaking up a five-game losing streak prior to that. They knocked off Pacific 5-2 on March 31, which was their last action. The Warriors are led by Cade Edwards (11-8) and Declan Townsend (11-9), coached by Kai Fong who's in his 36th season at the helm.
