SPOKANE, Wash. - Northwest Conference champion Whitworth University will host Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Chapman University in the first round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs on Saturday at noon in the Pine Bowl.
Kickoff will be at noon between the Pirates (9-0) and the Panthers (6-3), who have already met once this season. Whitworth defeated Chapman 24-17 on September 16th in Orange, California.
Tickets will be available on the Whitworth Hometown Ticketing app. Admission for adults will be $12 and admission for senior adults, students and children will be $6. There are no passes applicable for this game.
Whitworth defeated Linfield College 28-24 in McMinnville, Oregon in a battle of unbeatens on Saturday to determine the NWC title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Chapman rolled past Pomona-Pitzer 41-20 on Saturday in the first-ever SCIAC championship game.
The Pirates are making their fifth NCAA Division III playoff appearance since 2001. The last came in 2018 when Whitworth defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 48-6 in the first round before falling 45-24 at St. John's (Minn.) in the second round.
The winner of Saturday's game between Whitworth and Chapman will take on the winner of a game between Wartburg College (Iowa) and Illinois College on Saturday, November 25th.Â
