SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth University men completed a weekend sweep of visiting Southwestern Oregon Community College on Saturday morning, but the Lakers bounced back to beat the Pirate women for a split of the two duals.
The final men's score was Whitworth 103, SWOC 82, while the women's final was SWOC 107, Whitworth 59.
Isaiah Ross won a pair of individual events and was part of the winning medley relay for the Pirate men. Ross teamed with Ryan Burch, Connor Florey and Zachary Washburn to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.63.
Ross went on to win the 100-yard butterfly in 51.54 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.57.
Whitworth won four other individual events on Saturday. Noah Clarke was first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.97), Mason Self won the 50-yard freestyle (22.50), Burch touched first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.14) and Washburn was the winner of the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.33).
Chamelle Abringe was the only winner for the Pirate women on Saturday, taking first in the 500 freestyle in 5:41.03.
Whitworth will return to Northwest Conference competition next weekend when the Pirates host Lewis & Clark College (Friday night) and George Fox University (Saturday morning) in the final home dual meets of the season.
