FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Chamelle Abringe won three individual events to lead the visiting Whitworth women to a tough dual meet victory at Pacific, while the Pirate men took first place in all 11 events to cruise to a win over the Boxers on Friday night.
Whitworth won the women's meet 100-87 and dominated the men's meet 169-15.
Abringe was a workhorse once again for the Pirate women. She won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 19:31.19 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:38.13. In between she took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.50.
Carly Hoff was also a key to victory for Whitworth's women. She anchored the opening 200-yard medley relay to a win in 1:58.02. She was joined by Taylor Thorne (backstroke), Grace Oster (breaststroke), and Jillian Larrabee (butterfly). Hoff went on to win the 50-yard freestyle (25.88) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.45).
Oster was the other individual winner for the Pirate women, touching first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.73. Whitworth closed the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sarah Doncevic, Larrabee, Katie Ramos and Thorne went 1:45.18.
Noah Clarke, Isaiah Ross and Zachary Washburn all won two individual events for Whitworth's men.
Clarke took both distance freestyle races, winning the 1,650 in 17:59.34 and the 500 in 5:05.72.
Ross won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.38 and the 100 butterfly in 53.62. Washburn ran away with the 50 free in 21.59 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.70.
Brody Faser took first place in the 400-yard I.M. in 4:24.06. Ryan Burch did the same in the 100 freestyle (48.49). Ty Patterson claimed the 100-yard backstroke in 56.64.
Burch, Faser, Ross and Washburn opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:40.35. Burch was joined by Mason Self, Haden Keener and Carl McNabb to win the 200 free relay in 1:31.63.
Whitworth will complete at Linfield on Saturday.
