Jake Goguen and Zachary Washburn stand atop the podium for the 100 free

Neither Pirate Relay Advances

INDIANAPOLIS – Neither of the Whitworth relays advanced out of the preliminary heats on Thursday during the second day of competition at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships held at the IUPUI Natatorium. 

The Pirates finished 23rd in the preliminaries of the men's 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.69.  Whitworth entered the meet with a time of 1:22.78.

The Bucs were 20th in the preliminaries of the men's 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:22.81, which was just off of the entry time of 3:22.17.

Jake Goguen, Ryan Grady, Finn McClone and Zachary Washburn were on both relays.  The Pirate quartet will race again on Friday in the 800-yard freestyle relay.  In addition, Grady will compete in the men's 100-yard breaststroke, while Emma Thompson races in the women's 100-yard backstroke.
