Zachary Washburn starts the men's 50 freestyle

Washburn hits NCAA provisional time

TACOMA, Wash. – Three Whitworth swimmers have won events though the halfway point of the 2022 Logger Invitational swimming meet, based on results posted from Friday and Saturday.

The Pirate men are in second place in the team standings, while the women are in fourth place.  There are five schools at the meet.

Zachary Washburn has the first NCAA Division III qualifying time of the season for Whitworth.  He won the men's 50-yard freestyle in 20.61.  But he also led off the 200-yard freestyle relay with an official split of 20.44, which is under the provisional qualifying mark of 20.51.  That relay finished in second place with a time of 1:25.73.

Connor Florey won the men's 1,650-yard freestyle on Friday night with a season-best time of 16:37.27.  Florey was also the runner-up on Saturday in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:14.09.

Carly Hoff won the women's 50 freestyle for Whitworth with a time of 24.24, her season-best mark.  She was the second-seed after the morning prelims, but touched first in the finals.

Men – Southwest Oregon CC 534.5, Whitworth 428, Whitman 422.5, Puget Sound 311, PLU 109.

Women – Puget Sound 471, Southwestern Oregon 396, Whitman 373, Whitworth 279, PLU 199
