CLARKSTON, Wash. – The Whitworth men's golf team improved over every round to finish in a tie for third place on Monday and Tuesday at the Lewis-Clark State Warrior Spring Classic hosted at Red Wolf Golf Club.
The Pirate A team posted rounds of 298-294-285 for a final score of 877 to tie for third place with Bellevue College. The LCSC A team and LCSC B team finished first and second with scores of 844 and 860, respectively. College of Idaho was fifth (882), Whitworth's B team was sixth (911), Montana Tech seventh (913) and Carroll (MT) was eighth 922.
Matthew Durkin shot 71-73-69 – 213 (-3) to tie for seventh place. LCSC's Kye Krall was the medalist with a score of 69-66-71 – 206 (-10).
Max Hosfeld and Andy Hobson both finished at +6 (222) to tie for 13th place. Peyton Simonds recovered from a rough opening round of 79 to shoot +8 (224) for a tie for 20th with Kallen Maioho, who was -1 in his third round.
For the Pirate B team, Rhett Nordberg led the way with a score of 226 (+10) to finish in a tie for 26th place.
Whitworth will return to action on March 30-31 at the George Fox Invitational in Molalla, Oregon.
