SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth senior Solo Hines will be the Pirates' lone representative this week at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.
Hines will compete in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He's been to the previous two NCAA Indoor meets in the 60, but this will be his first national competition in the 200.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Check the Whitworth track & field schedule for live links to follow all the action.
Preliminary heats of the men's 60-meter dash will take place at 11:15 am (PST) on Friday. Hines is seeded 12th in that event with a time of 6.81. The men's 200-meter dash preliminary heats are at 1:30 pm on Friday. Hines enters the meet tied for 11th in the 200 with a time of 21.59 – a new Whitworth school record.
The top eight from preliminaries qualify for Saturday's championship finals. The men's 60 meter finals take place at 12:35 pm on Saturday with the 200 running at 2:30 pm.
Last season Hines just missed making the finals of the 60, taking 10th in the preliminary heats.
