SPOKANE, Wash. – Amelia Hewson broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles and the Whitworth track and field team posted several season-best marks on Saturday at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational at the Podium in downtown Spokane.
Hewson finished third in the women's 60 hurdles with a new Pirate record time of 8.89, breaking her own previous mark of 8.95. She also finished 11th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.04.
Allison Ball sprinted to a season-best mark in the 200-meter dash, finishing 13th in 26.39. Breanne Rawls had a season best mark in the long jump, taking 15th with a distance of 14'-4.5". She was also 12th in the high jump (4'-10.5"). Renee Tiumalu took seventh in the shot put with a mark of 38'-8.25".
Solo Hines had Whitworth's highest finish of the meet. He took second place in the 60 dash in 6.92, just off his season-best mark.
Luke Davis and Reed Hurst both had season-best marks in the men's shot put. Davis finished fifth with a toss of 46'-7.25", while Hurst was seventh in 45-11.25.
Jalen Martin took seventh in the high jump with a season-best height of 6'-1.25". Elliot Hammond cleared 13'-9.75" to finish 11th and hit a season-best in the pole vault.
Kainoa Figueira went a season-best time in the 800, running 1:56.60 to finish 15th.
Whitworth has one more indoor meet next weekend at Seattle Pacific before the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.
