LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Whitworth had four players finish among the top 11 as the Pirates took second place as a team at the 2026 Northwest Conference Spring Classic, hosted by Puget Sound on Saturday and Sunday at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club.

Perhaps more importantly, Whitworth was able to move into second place in the overall conference standings after coming out of the 2025 NWC Fall Classic in fourth position.

The final team scores were: George Fox 610, Whitworth 621, Lewis & Clark 634, Whitman 644, Pacific (Ore.) 654, Pacific Lutheran 682, Puget Sound 683, Linfield 729.  The Pirates shot 313 on the first day and 308 on the second.

Ahika Jani of Lewis & Clark won the medal after she posted a score of 74-73 – 147 (+3).

Stella Fergin was in the hunt for medalist honors after her first round of 75 on Saturday.  She followed with an 80 on Sunday and posted a 155 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place that included her teammate Ashley Maki.  Maki moved up three positions in the standings on Sunday following her total of 79-76 – 155.

Erin Pierce shot 79-77 – 156 for 10th place and Rosalind Nordberg moved up eight spots on Sunday following her score of 82-75 – 157.  Carolyn Rose (80-85 – 165) finished 20th.

The 2025-26 NWC golf standings will be determined by cumulative strokes over the course of the three conference events.  George Fox is in first place with 1,270 strokes and Whitworth is in second with 1,289.  The Pirates trailed Pacific (Ore.) by four strokes and Whitman by two strokes after the Fall Classic, but now lead each.  Lewis & Clark moved up to third place with 1,306 strokes while Whitman is in fourth with 1,310 and Pacific in fifth with 1,318.

The Pirates will compete in a dual with Whitman next Saturday in Richland, Washington.
