SALEM, Ore. – Willamette used an 8-0 scoring run that spanned from the end of the first quarter to early in the third quarter was too much for visiting Whitworth to overcome on Sunday afternoon as the Pirates dropped a 16-9 Northwest Conference lacrosse game.
Willamette (5-9 overall, 3-3 NWC) eliminated Whitworth (6-9, 2-4 NWC) from contention for the 2026 NWC tournament. The Pirates will finish the season at home next weekend against Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
Campbell Vincent scored twice in the first quarter, including one with 2:29 to play in the period that tied the game 3-3. Whitworth did not score again Sierra Witte broke the scoreless drought with 10:29 left in the third quarter. In between Willamette scored eight straight goals, including four by Claire Kisielnicki.
The Bucs got as close as 12-7 late in the third on another Vincent goal before the Bearcats finished on a 4-2 run.
Willamette outshot Whitworth 37-25. The Bearcats won 17 of the 27 draw controls to have control of possession.
Witte scored a career-high five goals and added one assist. Vincent finished with three goals and an assist. Megan Whitman led the team with four draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Kisielnicki scored six goals and tallied one assist for Willamette. Priya Mistry had three goals and two assists, while Alex Warfel finished with two goals and led all players with 10 draw controls.
