LEWISTON, Idaho – The visiting Whitworth University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Lewis-Clark State College in its season opening match at the LC Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
The Warriors (2-2) were victorious in each doubles match and all six singles matches.
Ryan Ashley and Henry Preacher fell 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles match, as did Matt Froslan and Matt Hossack in the No. position. Connor Judson and Easton Weir put up a good fight in the No. 3 match but fell 6-4.
Preacher competed in the No. 1 singles position for the Bucs and fell 6-3 in straight sets. Ashley pushed his opponent to a first set tiebreaker before falling 7-6, 6-0. Judson battled in his first match as a Pirate from the No. 3 position but couldn't break through for a set win. Froslan held the No. 3 position, Hossack competed at No. 4 and Landon LaBrie played in the No. 6 spot, each falling in two sets.
The Whitworth men will begin Northwest Conference play on Sunday, February 15th at home against Whitman.
