NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Whitworth University lacrosse was well represented in the classroom as well as on the field this spring as four individual players were named to the 2025 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Academic Honor Roll last week, while the entire team also earned recognition.
Kenzie Hemman, Nikki Beers, Megan Whitman and Sierra Witte all claimed individual honors. Hemman, the only senior in the quartet, is a repeat honoree.
To be eligible for this recognition, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The IWLCA honored 1,189 student-athletes from 203 different institutions.
Hemman (Sr., M), a history and criminology double major, earned first team All-Northwest Conference honors in 2024. She finished with 30 goals and five assists to rank third on the team in goals and total points. Hemman retires as the Pirates' all-time leader in ground balls (186), caused turnovers (105) and in draw controls (267). She played in all 66 of Whitworth's matches during her career and made 64 starts.
Beers (Jr., M/D) is a health science major who started all ten matches for which she was healthy in 2025. She scored nine goals and added six assists.
Whitman (Jr., MF) is a kinesiology and education double major. She led Whitworth and ranked second in the NWC with 76 draw controls, earning honorable mention All-NWC. She also led the Bucs with 22 caused turnovers. On offense, Whitman finished the season with 25 goals and five assists.
Witte (Jr., M) is majoring in engineering. She earned honorable mention All-NWC in 2025 when she scored 32 goals and led the Pirates with 19 assists. Her goal and point total (51) both ranked second on the team. Her assist total was eighth in the NWC.
As a team the Pirates claimed IWLCA recognition as an Academic Honor Squad. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
Whitworth had a team GPA of 3.40. The Pirates finished 7-7 overall and 4-4 in the Northwest Conference in 2025, tying with Linfield and Lewis & Clark for fourth place in the league standings.
