WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Whitworth women's golf team faded from challenging for second place to a fourth-place finish at the 2025 Northwest Conference Spring Classic on Sunday and Monday, hosted by Whitman College at Wine Valley Golf Course.
The Pirates shot 312 on Sunday, only three strokes behind second place Whitman, but posted a 322 on Monday and ended up in fourth place. Pacific University moved past Whitworth after the results of Monday's round. Third-ranked George Fox won the Spring Classic by 33 strokes.
The final team scores were: George Fox 587, Whitman 620, Pacific (Ore.) 631, Whitworth 634, Lewis & Clark 674, Puget Sound 680, Pacific Lutheran 692, Linfield 710, Willamette incomplete.
Stacia Sarty led the Pirates with a top-five individual finish. She shot 76-77 – 153 (+9) and was the top finisher from a school other than George Fox. The Bruins' Alison Takamiya earned medalist honors with a score of 74-71 – 145 (+1).
Maddie Hahn finished in 14th place with her total of 78-81 – 159, while Ashley Maki and Stella Fergin posted identical scores of 79-82 – 161 to tie for 16th place. Julia Diaz (82-83 – 165) took 23rd place.
In the chase for the 2024-25 Northwest Conference title, which is based on the combined scores of the NWC Fall Classic, NWC Spring Classic and NWC Tournament (coming up on April 20-21), George Fox has a 74-stroke lead over Whitman (1,168 – 1,242). Whitworth is in third place, 27 strokes behind Whitman (1,269) and now only three strokes ahead of Pacific (1,272).
The 2025 NWC Tournament will take place on April 20-21 in McMinnville, Oregon at Michelbook Country Club.
