McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Stella Fergin and Stacia Sarty posted a pair of top-five finishes for the Whitworth women at the 2025 Northwest Conference golf tournament on Sunday and Monday at Michelbook Country Club, but as a team the Pirates dropped from third on Sunday to fourth in the final standings.
Whitworth shot 315 on Sunday and 331 on Monday to finish with a total score of 646. Pacific University (320-318 - 638) rallied past the Pirates into third place on Monday. Third-ranked George Fox pulled away to win the tournament with a score of 603, easily claiming the 2024-25 Northwest Conference title along the way.
The final team scores were: George Fox 603, Whitman 628, Pacific (Ore.) 638, Whitworth 646, Lewis & Clark 676, Puget Sound 682, Pacific Lutheran 685, Linfield 704, Willamette incomplete.
Fergin shot 73-83 – 154, while Sarty posted a total of 75-81 – 154 to tie with three other players for fifth place in the individual standings. Fergin was in contention for second place early in Monday's second round. Alison Takamiya, the 2nd-ranked individual player in NCAA Division III, earned medalist honors with a total of 67-72 – 139 (-5). She won by 12 strokes.
Maddie Hahn (86-81 – 167) was the only Pirate player to shoot better on Monday than on Sunday. She finished tied for 22nd place. Ashley Maki (83-86 – 169) tied for 24th, while Hui Yi Soh (84-86 – 170) tied for 26th place.
The 2024-25 Northwest Conference standings were determined by a cumulative score from the 2024 NWC Fall Classic, 2025 NWC Spring Classic and 2025 NWC Tournament. Whitworth finished third in the fall, fourth in the Spring Classic and fourth in the NWC tournament, leading to a fourth-place finish in the league table. George Fox won all three tournaments to claim the conference title by a wide margin over runner-up Whitman.
