SPOKANE, Wash. – Madison Carr shattered Whitworth's school record in the women's shot put on Thursday and three other Pirate women won events at the Whitworth Twilight and Alumni meet at Bopell Track.

Carr won the shot put with a distance of 45'-11.25", which now leads the Northwest Conference and ranks fourth in NCAA Division III.  That distance broke the previous school record of 45'-2.5", shared by teammate Amblessed Okemgbo this season and Renee Tiumalu (2024).  In addition, Izzy Boyd finished sixth in the women's shot put with a mark of 40'-0.75", which ranks fourth in the NWC.

Devyn Chelin, Briana Tira and Mallory Elliott all won field events for the Pirate women.  Chelin won the javelin with a throw of 132'-11".  Briana Tira was first in the long jump at 17'-6" with Cadence Lorenz in second (16'-5.75").  Elloitt won the triple jump with a personal record of 35'-3.75".

Whitworth's women had several runners-up finishes as well.  Lorenz was also runner-up in the high jump, clearing 5'-0.25", a season-best height.  Carr added a runner-up finish in the hammer throw (163'-6") and Okemgbo was runner-up in the discus with a distance of 151'-2", which now leads the NWC and ranks seventh in NCAA Division III.

Jordyn Lungo finished second in the women's 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 12.45, which is fourth in the NWC.  Macayla Mills was third with a personal record time of 12.91.

The Pirate men got several strong individual performances as well, but perhaps stood out more for their depth.  They had seven of the top-ten finishers in the men's shot put, in which Luke Davis (48'-11") was third and Eddie Vu (47'-8") fifth.  Vu was runner-up in the discus (162'-5"), where Whitworth had five of the top-nine finishers.

Tristan Hiller finished third in the javelin with a personal record of 190'-6", the fifth-best mark in the NWC this season.  Brandon Geck was fourth with a PR of 178'-4".

Richard Alsept cleared 6'-5" to take second place in the high jump, a personal record that now ranks second in the NWC.  Andrew Strawn (14'-3.5") was runner-up in the pole vault.

Personal records abounded on the track for the men's team as well, led by Isaac Akiyama's second place finish in the 800-meter run.  His time of 1:53.68 is now fifth in the NWC.

Alex Peters (4:57.10) was runner-up in the 1,500-meter run, while Carter Rossman was third in the 400-meter dash (50.41).  Both times are personal records.

Jayden Richards (11.20) hit a PR with his fifth-place in the 100-meters.
