HILLSBORO, Ore. – Whitworth guard Ashlyn Peterson is the 2024-25 Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year, according to the All-NWC list released by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Peterson, a first-year Pirate from Bothell, Washington, was named to the All-NWC second team. Peterson led Whitworth, and ranked highly in the NWC, in several statistical categories. She averaged 14.4 points per game, which was fourth in the NWC. She dished 85 assists and averaged 3.4 assists per contest to rank third in the league. She was sixth in assists-to-turnover ratio and sixth in steals per game (1.8). Peterson led the conference in minutes played (889) and in minutes per game (35.6).
Peterson had season highs of 24 points vs. Lewis & Clark, nine rebounds vs. Willamette, eight assists in the season-opener vs. North Park and five steals vs. North Park.
The Pirates finished the season 8-17 overall and 5-11 in the NWC while fielding an 11-player roster that featured seven first-years, one sophomore and three juniors.
