Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Whitworth women's tennis team opened the second half of Northwest Conference play with a 6-1 loss at Whitman on Saturday.
The Pirates are now 4-4 in the NWC (4-5 overall) while the Blues advanced to 8-1 (9-2 overall) in conference play.
Whitman swept the doubles matches to claim the first point of the match. Audrey Judson and Olivia Corbett played a strong match in the No. 3 position but fell 6-4. Jordan Turner-Esposito and Clara Todd paired in the No. 2 match for the second time this season. The pair fell 6-0.
The Blues won five of six singles matches, each in two sets. Corbett earned the lone Pirate point with a 7-5, 6-0 win in the No. 6 singles match. Gracie Smyley had her six-match win streak snapped after falling to Whitman's Teleya Blunt in the No. 1 position.
The Whitworth women host a second non-conference match against Lewis-Clark St. College on Sunday at 10:00 am.
