LEWISTON, Idaho. – The visiting Whitworth University men's tennis team dropped its first match of the spring season 6-1 to Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday afternoon at the LCSC Tennis Center.
The Pirates got their win in the #1 singles slot while the Warriors (2-2) took the other five singles matches two of three doubles matches.
Matthew Morrison and Henry Preacher paired for a 6-4 win in the #1 doubles match. Ryan Ashley and Matt Froslan competed in the #2 match and fell 6-3 while Matt Hossack and Easton Weir were defeated 6-2.
Lewis-Clark St. won four of its singles matches in two sets. Morrison won his first singles match as a Pirate 6-1, 6-3 over LCSC #1 Giacomo Moreira. Weir battled in a competitive #4 singles match before ultimately falling in the third set (7-6, 2-6, 7-5).
Whitworth begins Northwest Conference play with a match at Whitman on February 15th.
