FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The visiting Whitworth University men's tennis team fell 6-1 to the Pacific Boxers in a Northwest Conference tennis match on Saturday afternoon.
The Boxers (2-1 overall, 2-1 NWC) got their second win of the season while the Pirates (0-2 NWC) dropped their third consecutive match to start the season.
Pacific swept the doubles points with three victories. Ryan Ashley and Matt Froslan put up the best fight and were edged 6-4 in the second pairing.
Matthew Morrison lost a close battle in the #1 singles match 7-6 (9-7), 6-3. Henry Preacher earned his first win of the season and grabbed the lone Pirate point in a three-set second singles match (4-6, 6-2, 6-0).
Whitworth will look to earn its first win of the season at Willamette tomorrow, February 23rd at 11:00am.
