SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity scored three second half goals to pull away for a 4-0 win over visiting Whitworth on Friday night in a non-conference men's soccer match at Paul McGinlay Field.
The Tigers improved to 1-0-2 while the Pirates fell to 2-1. Whitworth will take on Southwestern (Texas) on Sunday at Trinity.
Mark Donelly scored in the 31st minute to break a 0-0 tie. Louis Instrall had the assist. Trinity outshot Whitworth 6-2 in the opening half.
The Tigers took total control in the second half, scoring three more goals while outshooting the Bucs 16-1. Adam Knutson scored his third goal of the season four minutes into the second half. Hunter Cain made it 3-0 four minutes later. Cade Dougan scored the final goal in the 63rd minute from an assist by Knutson.
Aiden Chase played all 90 minutes in goal for Whitworth, allowing four goals against five assists. Omkar Satpathy only had to make one safe for Trinity.
