NEWBERG, Ore. – Whitworth men's tennis lost its second Northwest Conference match of the weekend, a 9-0 sweep at George Fox on Saturday.
The Pirates (4-12, 2-4 NWC) are officially eliminated from conference tournament contention with the loss, while George Fox (6-9, 4-0 NWC) will remain unbeaten to stay in contention for the top overall seed.
The Bruins swept doubles before winning all six singles matches in just two sets. The top Pirate pair of Henry Preacher and Nathan Tjelle lost 8-3, in single #6 Matt Froslan came close but fell to Jackson Whittaker 6-3, 7-5.
Whitworth's conference finale will be in Salem on Sunday where they take on winless Willamette.
