The Pirates (3-6, 2-1 NWC) moved past the Wildcats (3-4, 2-2 NWC) in the conference standings, as they beat Linfield 5-4 for the third straight season (the fifth time in the last six seasons).

Whitworth took two of three doubles matches, #2 Ethan Warring and Payton Romey won a close one beating Haven Hepton and Cameron Paulsen 8-7 (7-3) before #3 Jess Weaver and Colby Cinqmars took care of Matous Young and Alexander Rosenquist 8-5.

#2 Nathan Tjelle got the Pirates going in singles knocking off Rogue Stone 6-4, 6-3. #3 Warring got his second win of the day outlasting Rosenquist 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-1. But it was #6 Cinqmars who held off a Linfield comeback as he handled Linfield's Young in two sets 6-2, 6-4 to give the Pirates the clinching fifth match.

It's the second straight NWC win for Whitworth who's off to a respectable start to 2024. The Pirates will look to keep momentum going as they travel to Portland against Lewis & Clark on Sunday.
