NEWBERG, OR. – Four second half goals propelled George Fox to a 5-0 win over visiting Whitworth in a Northwest Conference men's soccer match on Sunday Afternoon.
The Pirates (6-6-2 overall, 4-4-2 NWC) split the season series with the Bruins (11-2-1, 7-2-1).
Whitworth was held to just one shot in the first half, but kept the Bruins off the board until a goal from Issac Williams in the 41st minute broke the tie. The Pirates ramped up the pressure in the second half, totaling nine shots, five shots on goal and two corner kicks. Beckett Arthur and Cole Friesen each led Whitworth with 2 shots each.
Goals from Harrison Emert, Kellin Aguiar, Mason Ayles and a second from Issac Williams capped the scoring for the Bruins. Connor Kong also contributed three assists.
Aiden Chase made four saves for the Pirates. Justin Huttinger made three saves for the Bruins and Patrick O'Brien also made one save.
Whitworth will look to bounce back against Whitman on Wednesday in Spokane.
