SPOKANE, Wash. — Whitworth men's soccer played to a 2-2 draw with visiting Carroll College in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (1-1) took a one goal lead in each half, and each time the Saints (2-1) responded with an equalizer.
Whitworth scored first with a goal by Dominic Gusman in the 13th minute. Beckett Arthur was credited with the assist.
A goal by the Saints Rory Bloy evened the score in the 27th minute. Ryan Quinn and Phillip Camacho were each credited with an assist.
Cole Friesen scored quickly for the Pirates coming out of the half in the 47th minute to take the lead 2-1. It is Friesen's third goal of the season.
A through pass set up Bloy's second goal of the game for Carroll in the 79th minute to even the score. Jack Bentsen and Birgi Gauti Stefansson were each credited with an assist.
Pirate goalkeeper Bo Broyles was credited with three saves in 90 minutes played in his 2022 season debut. Ryan Croft made 10 saves for Carroll.
The Pirates outshot the Saints 23-9 but were unable to capitalize on opportunities.
The Pirates will play next Saturday at 1:00PM EST against Covenant (GA.) in Atlanta, Ga.
