WALLA WALLA, Wash.— The Whitman Blues defeated the visiting Whitworth Pirates 2-0 in a Northwest Conference men's soccer rivalry match on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates (5-5-2, 3-3-1 NWC) and Blues (6-6-1, 3-3-1 NWC ) fought to a scoreless first half before Whitman's Noa Taylor found the back of the net twice in the final forty-five.
Taylor found his first goal of the match in the 47th minute, finding the upper left corner of the net. Mark Bamusiima-Muwanguzi assisted.
In the 56th minute, Derivan Dockter and Lucas McAllister connected with Taylor who scored again to give the Blue's the 2-0 victory.
Whitman outshot the Pirates 20-9 in total shots taken and 9-3 on shots on goal.
Whitworth's goalkeeper Andrew Wolotira was credited with five saves in 90 minutes played. Bernie Jones had three for Whitman.
Whitworth will play next at Linfield on October 15th and 2:30 PM.
