SPOKANE, Wash. – Solomon Hines posted a pair of third place finishes to lead the Whitworth University track and field team at the 2022 indoor season at the Cougar Classic on Friday at the Podium in downtown Spokane.
Hines took third place in the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 6.92. He had posted the morning's fastest qualifying time with a 6.87 in the preliminary heats. Hines went on to finish third in the 200-meter dash in 22.20.
Other strong men's finishes included Kainoa Figueria's second place in the 800-meter run in 1:57.97. Jalen Martin was ninth in the long jump (20'-7.25") and Xavier Bettancourt was ninth in the 400-meter dash (51.91).
Madelyn Buckley had the highest finish among Whitworth's women. She finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:01.78. Renee Tiumalu was ninth in the shot put with a mark of 37'-3.25".
The Pirates will return to action on January 22nd at the McClusky Memorial Open at the University of Idaho in Moscow.
