Box Score Forest Grove, Ore. – Whitworth ran its winning streak in women's tennis to six in a row with Sunday's 5-4 non-conference victory at Pacific University, giving the Pirates a sweep of the weekend matches.
Whitworth improved to 8-5 and the Bucs will close out the regular season at home next weekend against Willamette with a chance to clinch the #2 seed in the upcoming Northwest Conference tournament.
Whitworth had to rally from a 2-1 deficit after doubles. Meredith Bedford and Hannah Plank picked up the Pirates' only point with an 8-2 win at #3 doubles.
The teams played eight-game pro-sets in singles. Whitworth took four of the six contests, winning at every position below first and second singles, as the Bucs did on Saturday. Froukje Lakerveld posted the match-clinching victory at #5 singles with an 8-5 decision.
