Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – The Whitworth women's tennis team ran its winning streak to five in a row with an 8-1 win on Saturday at the University of Puget Sound.
The Pirates improved to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the Northwest Conference while the Loggers dropped to 0-8, 0-7.
Whitworth swept the doubles matches with little difficulty. Kyndal Locati and Froukje Lakerveld combined to post an 8-0 shutout at #3 doubles, while Lauren Ikeda and Hannah Plank rolled to an 8-1 win at #2 doubles. Aleah Kert and Avery Liening pulled out an 8-6 victory over Andie Machida and Lia Van Steeter at the top spot.
None of the six singles matches went more than two sets. In fact, Whitworth got 6-0, 6-0 wins from Kert (#2 singles) and Ikeda (#4). Meanwhile, Locati won 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles.
The Loggers got their only point at #1 singles.
Whitworth will travel to play a pair of matches at Pacific (Ore.) next weekend, with Saturday's match counting toward NWC standings.
