SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University earned a non-conference women's tennis win over visiting Pacific Lutheran on Sunday by a 7-2 score.
The Pirates evened their season record at 5-5 by earning their fifth win in the last six matches. The Lutes fell to 3-5.
PLU used only five players, so the Bucs picked up a point in both doubles and singles by default. The teams also played eight-game pro-sets in singles.
Avery Liening led the way. She teamed with Hannah Plank to win 8-1 at #1 doubles. Liening then defeated Hannah Jeffries 8-0 at #1 singles.
Whitworth returns to action next Saturday at Puget Sound in a Northwest Conference match.
